Ponce Inlet
is located south of Daytona Beach at the southern tip of a beach peninsula. It’s one of the area’s most highly sought after residential areas. The community of Ponce Inlet is known for its uncrowned beaches and quiet, relaxed lifestyle. Several marinas are located in the town and it’s also known as a prime fishing spot. The residents of Ponce Inlet are committed to preserving the character and lifestyle of their town, and thus have resisted over-commercialization of this barrier island haven. They welcome growth - but “managed growth” and have resisted outside pressure to change. Ponce Inlet is also one of the more expensive residential areas of Daytona Beach.
The beaches in the Ponce Inlet area are perfect for walking, jogging, sunning and shelling. In addition to fishing, other water sports abound and include scuba diving and canoeing. Ponce Inlet has some of the best backwater fishing in Florida, and anglers come from all over to enjoy both fresh and salt-water fishing. Golf and horseback riding are also available in the Ponce Inlet area, as well as sunset cruises, nature tours and canoe adventures. The main attraction in town is the restored 175-foot, red brick Ponce de Leon Lighthouse. Visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse for a stunning panoramic view of the whole Daytona Beach area. It’s one of the few lighthouses in the country with all of the original buildings still standing.
